White White White

There were white white white
flower petals floating thru

sun bleached air on that long
white tunic that made your hair
looks so much like dyed black
silk. I wanted to reach out

and pick up an end and twist
it around my fingertips,

but innocense had passed
with white white white dresses
and knee socks passed on
to other girls, so that they

could sit in rooms at the back
of the church, kissing, hidden

behind white white white
curtains, pressing boney bodies
into one another, lips against necks,
hands in eachothers hair. All of that

was gone, just as these white white
white petals will be another summer soon.
