An open letter for when you have doubts

July 14, 2007

Waxy glossed red skin
fades to green, streatched taught
over crisp flesh. We’ve sprung
from the apple, from the place
where a woman’s teeth have pierced
brilliant casing. We’ve the

knowledge that makes us
capable, we understand there love
stands, where to look for signs
of a god whtat knows, too. It’s
something greater than
softball sized fruit clinging to the palm
of a hand. When we’re in need
the golden sun will nourish us,
the memories of light pouring thru
the windows of your rusted Ford
as we sped down the highway, wind
in new haircuts. We will always

have this and a thouseand other
happinesses to sustain us thru times
far darker. Daughters of an apple,
we will always know where
to look for the sun.
