Clock Watching

When we kissed, you were just passing
time – the time between leaving
one place and going another, the time

between hearing her voice and hearing
it again, the time between waking
and going to work.  I was building

something, a tower, a house, a bridge,
without blueprints.  I needed help,
but you were too busy looking at the clock.

  1. Wonderful poem … the idea of passing time. Well done that, JP
